Fall 2022
During the fall of 2022, under the tutelage of Dr. Celeste Snowber in the course 'Embodiment and Curriculum Inquiry' (EDUC 843), I explored the connection between embodiment, creativity, and curriculum. This module provided a fertile ground for exploring the integration of physicality, personal expression, and narrative in my ongoing project, 'Adam in Canada'.
Creation of DamDam
One significant aspect of this module was the creation of Damdam, a plushie character representing Adam. Damdam became a tangible embodiment of the 'Adam in Canada' narrative and served as a visual representation of myself in the project's illustrations. Through the creation of this plushie, I deepened the connection between the physical and imaginative realms, adding another layer of engagement to the storytelling process of 'Adam in Canada'.

I am (Adam in Canada) Music Video
Building upon the foundation of the theme song, 'I am (Adam in Canada)', from the previous module, I further developed the musical landscape for the 'Adam in Canada' project.
Expanding into the realm of rap, I crafted a complete rap song that was used as the centerpiece for a TikTok-style music video.
The lyrics of the rap song depicted Adam's experiences as a Singaporean adapting to life in Canada.
From struggles to comparisons, the lyrics conveyed messages of self-acceptance ("just be yourself, and you will be fine"), self-expression ("I am my own work of art"), and embracing the journey ("don't care so much, coz Adam's in Canada, eh!").
Adam in Canada Comic Strips
To complement the multimedia aspect of the 'Adam in Canada' project, I initiated a series of comic strips that chronicled Adam's life in Canada as a Singaporean. These comic strips became a platform for exploring the challenges, culture shocks, and the process of adaptation that Adam encountered.
Through the interplay of visuals, poems, and storytelling, these comic strips provided a unique perspective on the similarities and differences between life in Singapore and Vancouver, offering both personal reflection and narrative exploration.
The module 'Embodiment and Curriculum Inquiry' allowed me to research into the physical and creative dimensions of 'Adam in Canada'. Through the creation of DamDam, the development of a rap song, and the initiation of comic strips, I expanded the project's reach and engagement, fostering a deeper connection between the audience and the narrative.
